Using Find and Replace in MS Excel 2016

While working loads of data in MS Excel it can become very difficult as well as time taking to locate the specific information. You may also have to exchange a particular word or phrase for another one. IN such situations you can use Find and Replace feature in order to make quick revisions.

  • 1st of all you are required to click on Find and Select command from the Home tab and select Replace from the drop-down menu.
  • Now you will see the Find and Replace will appear.
  • Type the text which you need to find in the Find What field.
  • IN the next step you are required to type in the text which you need to replace it with in the Replace With: field and after that click Find What.
  • Now if the content is found the cell containing the content will be selected.
  • Now you need to review the text in order to make sure you want to replace it.
  • Now if you need to replace it select one of the replace option. Selecting Replace will replace the individual instances and Replace All will replace each instance of the text throughout the workbook,
  • Now you will notice that a dialog box will appear confirming the number of replacements made. Click OK in order to continue.
  • The selected cell content will be replaced.
  • Once you are finished you are required to click Close in order to exit the Find and Replace dialog box.

Cell Basics in MS Excel 2016

While working with MS Excel you will have to enter the information into the cells which are actually the basic building blocks of the worksheet. As this is the basic building block so you need to learn the basics of the cells as well as cell contents in order to calculate, analyze and organize the data in MS Excel. All the worksheets are made up of loads of rectangles which are known as cells. A cell is actually an intersection of rows and a column.   • Now you need to select the three dimensional icon from the sidebar. Now from here you can also select a different font from the menu right below which include size, color, bold, underline and alignment etc.
  • IN the next step you need to click anywhere on the canvas and then start typing.
  • Now you are required to click anywhere on the canvas outside of the text box in otder to turn it 3D.

  • The reminder can be set in everyday or on specific days of the week.

Enabling a Contact Based Reminder:

  • 1st of all you need to type in the “Ask me anything” prompt that reminds you to tell one of your contacts something.
  • Now select “Remind” if it is easy to edit the fields if something is incorrect or incomplete. If Cortana dows not recognize the name or you have got more than one contact with the same name then you will be asked to select from a list or browse your contacts. Cortana will conform the reminder.
  • This reminder will pop-up when you will next communicate with that person.
  • Now if you need to see all of your reminders you need to click the Lightbulb button in the Cortana menu.

How to Set the Compatibility Mode for Apps in Windows 10

Some of the sofware applications which are developed for the previous versions of Windows can run very well in Windows 10 but you might have some of the older apps which don’t work well and some of them won’t work at all with the new operating system. This issue can be fixed by changing their compatibility mode settings. Windows has got a built-in tool which is known as Program Compatibility Troubleshooter which can fix any compatibility issues automatically. Now if the troubleshooter can not fix the problem you can manually make the application run in the compatibility mode which will run the app using the settings from an earlier version of Windows.   • Now select a troubleshooting option and use the compatibility setting or select compatibility settings yourself.
  • If you will select to use the recommended settings, the troubleshooter will test the application by using a previous version of Windows so that you can see if that eliminates the issue.
  • Now in the next step you are required to click the Test the program button and then after that click on Next.
  • After this you can either select to save the settings for the app, try different settings or report the problem to Microsoft.

How to Run an App in Compatibility Mode:

As an alternative you can also go to the app’s properties in order to change its compatibility mode settings. With the compatibility mode you can force an app to use the settings from an earlier version of Windows. For running the app in Compatibility mode you need to follow these simple steps.

  • 1st of all you need to right click on an app and then select Properties. This can be done from the app’s shortcut or by navigating in File Browser to the EXE file.
  • Now you need to select the Compatibility tab and then click the box next to “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”
  • In the next step you need to select the version of Windows to use for the settings of your app in the dropdown box.
